Which one should I use of the two?

Both parts of the sentence say that nobody spoke, so "and" should be used. |

Right. If you want to use "but," you have to have a contrast, such as:
He spoke to everyone, but nobody spoke to him. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
