Dear teachers
What is the meaning of "live under a rock" ?
For example,
If you think going solar is too complicated or too costly,
you must "live under a rock".
Does "live under a rock" above mean "live underground" ?
I need your help.
Thank you very much.

Hello Iwana -
Close your eyes and make a mental image of the type of creatures
living "under a rock". Do you imagine they have much contact or
awareness of what is going on in the larger environment 'out from under'
the rock?
So....as you might guess - "live under a rock" means - be totally isolated
from and unaware of events in the world.
Many similar expressions or idioms are literal 'word pictures' - close you
eyes and try to 'see' the meaning. Philo |
