Hello evryone.
This is my first posting on this page, and I would like to ask you one question.
Have you ever been/lived overseas? If so, could you tell me what sort of culture gap you've experienced?
I'm thinking about studying abroad, and would love to listen to others' experience.
Thank you for your attention!! |

I moved to Japan and to say the least, The population is what really threw me off. I come from Lubbock Texas USA and it's a town of 230,000 people. I got to Narita airport in Tokyo and I had never seen so many people in one place before. Then, I went to downtown Tokyo and wow, the amount people is staggering. With so many people in one place I'm suprised it has a lower crime rate than the US.
For most people the strangest and often the most misunderstood thing about going to a new country is the culture and traditions. Like in Japan, I've seen grown buisness men urinating in side alleys in Tokyo. I can't say I'm too fond of the sight but I suppose it's accepted here. Anyway, I still have alot of things to learn about Japanese culture and I know I'm going to enjoy it!
BTW, I notice you have Osaka as your location. You wouldn't happen to be one of my students would you? ha ha ha _________________

Kevin,
Thank you for your reply.
Since both you and I are in Osaka, we might meet each other somewhere someday.... |

Ha ha! Just look for the young white guy who can barely speak Japanese, walks staring at the ground. carries a bag filled with too many books, usually has students(university) following him around and is usually in a beef bowl stand. I'm not that hard to miss as there usually aren't that many white guys in a beef bowl stand. lol just watch out which one you poke your head into. I've heard some awkward rumors about middle aged buisness men here... _________________
