#1: Because I lived in Japan for several years when I was a child, I can speak Japanese a little.
#2: Because I have lived in Japan for several years when I was a child, I can speak Japanese a little.
#3: Because I lived in Japan for several years in my childhood, I can speak Japanese a little.
#4: Because I have lived in Japan for several years in my childhood, I can speak Japanese a little.
(question) which of the four is[are] gramattically and semantically correct English sentences?

First, most people would say "I can speak a little Japanese" before "I can speak Japanese a little," but that is not the focus of your question.
Both 1 and 3 are fine, with 1 probably more likely to be said spontaneously. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
