In dealing with the many challenges that friendship will bring to you, try to see them for what they are: small hurdles you need to jump or ___ on your way through life.

A. pass by B. come across C. get through D. run over

PS: could we say "jump the hurdles? or should we add a preposition "over"?

Thanks

Jason

I would choose "pass by," although "run over" would work. In a hurdles footrace, the hurdler must stay in his or her lane and literally hurdle each hurdle or else run over it, knocking it down. But in friendship, figuratively running over the hurdle doesn't have the right connotation. One would try to get around the problem some way for the friendship to endure.

You can say jump over hurdles, but it is common to say jump hurdles, too.

first, thank you very much.

Let me give you the context for my question.

Although there are certainly times when calling it quits it the right thing to do, in most cases all that is needed is commitment and communication. When we are committed to something, it means that no matter how painful or how uncomfortable something is ,we will always choose to face it and work it through instead of running away from it. Communication is making a ___ for discussion and talking about how you feel as opposed to just saying what the other person did wrong. If you can say to a friend, I got my feelings hurt. rather thanYou hurt my feelings, you are going to be able solve the problem much faster. In dealing with many challenges that friendship will bring to you, try to see them for what they me: small hurdles you need to jump or ____ on your way through life.
