Hello Teo -
Where did you find the example? Who gave it to you?
I am not a 'grammar guru'...but, (B) sounds incorrect and, even if (A) is 'strictly' correct grammatically, it sounds like something one would find in a Victorian novel.
You would be more likely to hear or read -
His teacher believed Tom was an honest boy, but he wasn't.
His teacher believed Tom was honest, but he wasn't such an honest boy.
I truly enjoy learning something new about the English language and it's myriad forms of usage; grammarians ?? |
