| Timer-based signals are effective in one way grids where it is often possible to coordinate the traffic lights to the posted speed limit. |
What does 'grid' and 'coordinate' mean in the above?
And what does 'to coordinate the traffic lights to the posted speed limit' mean?
Thanks. |

A framework of crisscrossed or parallel bars; a grating or mesh.
Something resembling a framework of crisscrossed parallel bars, as in rigidity or organization: The city's streets form a grid.
A pattern of regularly spaced horizontal and vertical lines forming squares on a map, a chart, an aerial photograph, or an optical device, used as a reference for locating points.
Coordinate means to arrange the time of the signals which will make traffic move smoothly without constant starts and stops |

Thanks for your kind reply.
According to your reply, 'a grid' is a rectangle on the map or optical devices. Then what's 'one way grids' got to do with a grid on the map?
What words can 'one way grids' be replaced with?
Thanks. |
