Hi!
I'm trying to recall a synonym or a word nearest in meaning to "subsistence"...I think it starts with an E...I hope I'm helped!
Plus I need to know what the following example means...I looked up the word "Stone cold" somewhere, the following example was given..I'm not able to make out its usage!
"Stone-cold without, within burnt with love's flame"
Is someone stone cold without burnt flame from within or what?
Thanks
Maham

Maybe expense. A subsistence allowance is a payment made to someone to cover their expenses.
Stone cold means, literally, as cold as a stone.
It also means unemotional, insensitive.
My coffee is stone cold means that there is no trace of warmth in it.
Stone cold without; within burnt with love's flame, means that although the subject displays no emotion, he/she is in love. |

HI!
Yeah, thanks. The explanation for stone cold helped!
About, the E word, nahhh! Anyway, thanks. May be i'm confusing it with something else...or not able to recall. Actually, existence rhymes with subsistence but not exactly the word I was looking for!
Thanks again
