My wife placed a packet of biscuits on an end table and went to the kitchen to fetch a drink.
what does "an end table" mean? What is the part of speech of "end" here?
Is it an adjective?
thanks

An end table is a small table you placed next to a chair, or at one end of a sofa or a couch .
End is a noun functioning as an adjective here modifying the noun table. |
