The following is extracted from a paragraph.

"The problem is that there's nothing to do and nobody of my age to do it with"

What does "it" refer to since there is nothing to do.
Can you translate the sentence for me?

A great question! When there is nothing to do, there is no it, yet any native speaker would say and understand the sentence to mean that there is nothing to do, but even if there were something to do, there is no one to do anything with.
