Dear Grammarians,
Please look at the following sentence.
I often go fishing. The last time/ Last time I went to Florida and had great fun fishing with my friends.

I'm not sure which one I have to use here. If the sentence is "The last time I went fishing was the seventh of July this year, I can be pretty sure that "last time" needs "the," because "last time" is restricted by "I went fishing." But I'm not sure on the example sentence above. Is there any use of "last" without "the" in a sentence? Thanks a lot in advance.

I put "last time" in the meaning "previous time" or '"recently". As for "the last time", I use it if I want to underline that it was "the latest time I 've done smth". Hope, it makes sense.

Actually I can't guarantee that I'm right.
