| It means get lost!, Screw you!, or in general, is a disrespectful dismissal of something you have said. |

If you mean that we should avoid such language in polite company, I agree. But I don't know that we should avoid it here, if that is what you mean. This is where people come to find out about all sorts of expressions and rules of English.
Miss Daredevil's question was quite proper. She wanted to know what "Bite me!" means, and she had a guess that turned out to be incorrect. She wasn't using it as an expression toward anyone.
Mr. Pugachev V's answer was quite proper. He told her what the expression means--in less vulgar terms than I would have used, to tell the truth--and told her it was a disrespectful dismissal. You wouldn't want to hear it at a tea party or in a classroom. He wasn't using it against anyone, either.
I'm pretty sure Miss Daredevil will be careful not to use the expression herself, now that she knows what it means, unless she is joking with close friends or explaining what it means to someone else who uses it inappropriately.
I wonder if Dave should add a forum for naughty expressions. . . .
