Hallo,
I know that year like for example 1985 is read as "nineteen eighty-five".
Can this be applicated to the year 2007 as "twenty ou seven"? It doesnt sound good to me. What about 2058 or 2114?

Jana

Most people say "two thousand seven," as cgage2 indicated, but a small minority of people, like Charles Osgood, a CBS newsman who does both radio and television, say "twenty oh seven."

Most likely most people will say "two thousand" until we get to 2100, then probably most people will say "twenty-one hundred, twenty-one oh one, twenty-one oh two," and so on.

Only 93 more years to go before we find out. I can't wait.

I have heard some people use the "twenty" pattern for years beginning with 2010. ("twenty-ten," "twenty-fifty-eight," etc.)

Now I'm going to have to listen for Charles Osgood to say "twenty oh seven." Wink
