Hello,
I would like to know whether the following sentences are correct.
1.
She couldn't wait for her mother's birthday to come so she could give her this gift.
She couldn't wait for her mother's birthday coming so she could give her this gift.
Which one is acceptable? Or both are acceptable?
2. Knowing what her mother would like, she picked up one of the watches.
Here, does "pick up" mean "choose"?
Thanks for your help!!! |

#1 - Only the first is correct
"picked up" means that she obtained it. It does not mean select. Select usually means to make a certain choice. |
