I cannot understand 'That's no good.' in the above.
Is it proper in the situation?
If so, can you tell me what 'That's no good.' means?
Thanks. |

It's proper to say. It means, That's pretty bad, that's not good at all. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

Thanks for your kind reply as always, CP!
By the way, let me ask you one more question.
My early example, 'That's no good.', is different from the above example, 'it was no good.'?
Then, what does 'it was no good.' in the above mean?
Thanks. |

The expression "but it was no good" means "but it didn't help" or "but it didn't work out" or "but it was no help," etc. You use it when you tried something and failed. "We tried to start a fire by rubbing sticks together, but it was no good." We couldn't get a fire going that way. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
