HI EVERYBODY,
COULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT "PUT ON DISCOS" MEANS IN THE FOLLOWING PART:
"THEY COME UP WITH AMAZING IDEAS", SAYS EDMONDS. "THEY PUT ON DISCOS. THEY WENT TO THE CZECH BORDER, BOUGHT PRODUCTS AND THEN SOLD THEM AT A PROFIT."
TIA,
KATE. |

Hello Kate -
Maybe...??
1) They held/staged/conducted disco dances and charged people to attend as a way to make money.
2) They dressed in disco style clothing for their trip to the Chez boarder.
Can you provide more information/context? Philo |

HI PHILO,
HERE'S THE PARAGRAPH THE SENTENCE WAS TAKEN OUT OF:
"THE IMAGINATIVE IDEAS PARTICIPANTS CAME UP WITH WERE EXTRAORDINARY - ELECTRIC." HE DESCRIBES THE PROGRAMMES AS HELPING PEOPLE RECOGNISE THAT THERE IS A RANGE OF EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT STYLES. "WE WANTED TO THROW NEW LIGHT ON OLD PROBLEMS." THE PARTICIPANTS RESPONDED VERY POSITIVELY. IN ONE TASK, THEY WERE GIVEN Ł500 AND TOLD TO MAKE AS MUCH PROFIT WITH IT AS POSSIBLE. "THEY COME UP WITH AMAZING IDEAS", SAYS EDMONDS. "THEY PUT ON DISCOS. THEY WENT TO THE CZECH BORDER, BOUGHT PRODUCTS AND THEN SOLD THEM AT A PROFIT."

KATE. |

| Sounds more like #1 - They rented a dance hall or some other venue and hired a band or DJ and made money by charging people an entry fee. |
