I read an article on a poll of the Greatest Britons of all time.

1Popstars *feature *in the list heavily.Although* by his own admission*,dj John Peel was a bit of surprise* entry*.

feature=take an important place?

* by his own admission*-Is this a formal way to say that he admits?

Do you say "someone" gets an entry on a list/chart?

2The list is genuine,and not an elaborate *mickey-take*.
=a joke ?does it has anything to do with mickey mouse?

3The media has a lot of influence *over* our lives.
Could I say in/on our lives?

Thanks!!!

Yes, that sounds like a good way to descrbe it.

It's not formal. It's just another way to say it.

You can say someone is on a list/chart, or someone is first/second/etc. on a list/chart. (I'm not sure if that answers your question, though.)

2. I've never heard that expression, but it sounds like a synonym for joke.

3. I think either would work OK, but I think "over" is the best choice. I can't explain why, though - it's just my intuition.

You could say someone "made" the list. Or if they are at the #1 position, they "topped" the list or chart.

e.g. Moscow topped the list this year again as the world's most expensive city in the list of the 10 Most Expensive Cities. Also making the list are Paris, Tokyo, and New York City.

Yes, that's how you pronounce it.

It has two names: The pound sign and the number sign. I think pound sign is used more than number sign.
