What does "As attention returned those on holiday with the McCanns, " mean?
Sources said the friends wanted for interview were expected to be questioned by British police, rather than returning to the Algarve.
As attention returned those on holiday with the McCanns, a Portuguese newspaper claimed police believed it would be “impossible” to find Madeleine’s corpse.

I am pretty sure that clause should be, 'As attention returned to those on holiday with the McCanns,'.
Do you understand it now? |
