Dear KejciorF, What is the 'new economy', in which shares are traded on the NASDAQ? Well... Let's first discuss the NASDAQ, a stock exchange that is much younger than the venerable New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). (I'm not nearly an expert.) NASDAQ trading is and has always been, I believe, done electronically, whereas the NYSE still has some old, manual trading practices. Perhaps, having a company's shares of stock traded on the NYSE is a lot more expensive than on the NASDAQ. So, newer, less asset-rich companies use the NASDAQ. Often, these companies are rich in new ideas, which are primarily based on 'technological' innovations. Thus they are Hi-Tech, which is the basis of the 'new economy'. OK?--Eric |
