Are the followings correct?
Correction: Are the following (sentences/statements) correct?
(1) I had hoped to meet you. = I hoped to have met you.
No, the two are not the same.
I had hoped to meet you. = I hoped to met you.
Example: I went back stage hoping to get an autograph but I didn't get one. I had hoped to get an autograph. -or- I hoped to get an autograph.
(2) I have hoped to meet you. = I hope to have met you.
No, the second sentence is incorrect.
Example: I have always wanted to be successful. And I still want to be successful. _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |
