Hello,
'He was not paying attention and as a result/consequence stepped in a pile of dog crap.'
1.Could we use 'as a result/consequence' this way as in the sentence above?
2.Could we use 'a heap of' instead of 'a pile of' here?

Hello Learner -
1 - Yes, either 'as a result' or 'as a consequence' would be fine.
2 - 'a pile of dog crap' is the commonly accepted usage...'a heap' is not.
