Dear teacher,
I know we can't say " A poor student as he is,...", but can we say"Poor a student as he is,..."?

Depending on what you mean to say, yes.
"[As] poor a student as he is, he still manages to wear nice clothes." This means the same as, "Even though he is as poor as he is, . . . ."
"A poor student, as he is, usually can't afford to wear such nice clothes." This means, "A poor student like him usually . . . ." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
