Which is suitable. What does it mean?
The streets were _______ and no people were to be seen there.
A. deserted B. abandoned

I'm sorry, neither one seems suitable, and I don't understand. Are you sure you copied it correctly?

The streets were deserted because no one was there at the time. Perhaps it was very late at night, or perhaps everyone was inside because it was so cold. "Abandoned" sounds more like no one will ever go back there again. After everyone in the town died from a sickness, the town was abandoned. |
