Hello, teachers!!

The result of the election will largely ( ) ( )( )( )( ) the viewers in today's televised debate.

(a) on (b) which (c) impresses (d) depend (e) candidate

My answer is the following:
(1) The result of the election will largely depend on which candidate impresses the viewers in today's televised debate.

BUT, I think that the natural English is the next, I guess.

(2) The result of the election will largely depend on impresses which candidates give the viewers in today's televised debate.

Which is better, (1) or (2)?

Thank you in advance.

Your answer number 1 is right. Number 2 is not natural at all.

In number 2, if you changed the verb "impresses" to the noun "the impressions," it might work:

The result of the election will largely depend on the impressions the candidates give the viewers in today's televised debate.
