Dear mentors and friends,

I have more questions from reading or listening to songs.

1. I don't this line of lyrics in The Lion King, "keep great and small on the endless *round*". It seems out of nowhere to me.

2. Does "out of wing" mean "out of protection" or "out of supervision"?

3. I am trying to use "turn ..on its head" in a sentence for the 1st time. Please let me know if I use it wrong.

In where I am from, people are "truning the tradition ideas of gender and abilitiy on their heads. "

Thanks a gazillion for your help.

1. Here is a snippet of the lyrics from "The Circle of Life":

"There's far too much to take in here,
"More to find than can ever be found.
"But the sun rolling high
"Through the sapphire sky
"Keeps great and small on the endless round.
"It's the Circle of Life."

It's actually a very nice image. The sun rolls through the sapphire-colored sky, seeming to circle the Earth, going around and around endlessly. And that gives life to the creatures, great and small, who themselves are part of a circle of birth, life, death, rebirth.

Also remember that a round can be a trip of sorts, as when a doctor makes his or her rounds, going from one patient in the hospital to the next, tending to them all. So "endless round" isn't quite so out of the blue as it might seem.

Plus it rhymes with "found," and rhyming is good when it comes to lyrics.

2. As for "I Just Can't Wait to be King," it looks like another rhyming thing, but this time a little more stretched. I suppose "out of wing" means coming out from under the figurative wing of the parents.

"If this is where the monarchy is headed,
"Count me out!
"Out of service, out of Africa.
"I wouldn't hang about.
"This child is getting wildly out of wing.
"Oh, I just can't wait to be king!"
