Hi.
I posted the below question a few days ago but have not got any answers.
Can anybody help me???
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to know which word is correct in the below sentence, 'the one' or 'that'?
"Please open the valve of the chamber A and close 'the one' of the chamber B."
"Please open the valve of the chamber A and close 'that' of the chamber B."
Also it would be helpful if you could let me know the basic usage of 'one' and 'that'.
Thanks.

1...Omit "the" before "chamber".
2...Both are correct, but "the one" is more commonly used.
3...Do you mean the basic use of "the one" and "that"? Unfortunately there is no easy or short answer to that question, but in your sentences the two are interchangeable. |
