Dear teachers:
"His students would listen, spellbound by the gritty details, drawn by something more powerful than curiosity."
What does the word "gritty" mean in the sentence?
I consulted in the dictionary, only got "courageous" or "containing grit or covered in grit."
It seems not right in this sentence, so what does the word exactly mean?
Thx

Tough and uncompromising, with all the unpleasant facts clearly stated. |
