Dear Teachers!
I have a question about the stentece. Could you tell me the correct answer, please?
"A new way of life was established, one dependent upon following bison herds."
Does "one" mean new life in the sentence? Why dependent is used after a noun? Can we replace it by "depend"?
I saw "the neutered dog" in dictionary? Can we say that "Vet neutered that stray dog?
Thank you very much in advance!! |

1. "One" refers to the way of life. "Dependent" is used as an adjective describing the new way of life. The sentence means: "A new way of life was established, a way of life that was dependent upon / that depended upon following bison herds." Of course, it is better when shortened the way your sentence reads.
2. Yes, you can say "The vet[erinarian] neutered the stray dog." (Don't forget the "the"!) _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
