Dear David,
XXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXX
Sincerly yours,
Peter
-----------------------------------
Hi,
In English letters, just like the above one, should the sender's name(Peter) on the lower left side or right side?
Thank you for your help.
Regards,

On the left, just as you did.
By the way, you need to put a blank line after Dear David and before Sincerely Yours:
Dear David,
xxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Sincerely Yours,
Peter |

On second thought, TCC, there are different ways to format a letter. I think many years ago it was more common to put the closing (Sincrely Yours, Peter) on the right, although today I'd say the left is more common - especially if written on a computer. If I were writing the letter by hand, I'd still put it on the right, though, even today. The more I think about it, the more I realize how complicated it is.
If you have MS Word or something similar, look at the sample letters and letter templates in there. You can also do a search on "letter formatting" and you'll see lots of links to check out.
(The simple answer, though, is what I wrote in my first reply.)
Sorry for the confusion! |
