Does "hide" mean by "skin on face" or "head" or "face"?

'hide' is animal 'skin' --> cow hide

"I'll give your hide a warming" =

I'll give you a spanking (whipping/lashing/beating).

So....'skin on the back or buttocks' (behind/rear-end)
