Hello,
'If you had taken a taxi, you might have gotten to your appointment on time.'
1.Is it fine to use 'maybe', 'perhaps' or 'possibly' instead of 'might here as in:
(1)'If you had taken a taxi, maybe you would have gotten to your appointment on time.'
(2)'If you had taken a taxi, perhaps you would have gotten to your appointment on time.'
or
(3)'If you had taken a taxi, you would have possibly gotten to your appointment on time.'
------
2. Is it fine to use 'arrived at' instead of 'gotten to' here as in
'If you had taken a taxi, you might have arrived at your appointment on time.'
Thank you very much. |

| Incidentally, although "gotten" is in common use in the USA, it is considered to be "archaic" in England and is not used in Australia. |

Hello asterix,
Thank you very much for your answer and reminding me about the usage of 'gotten' in different countries.
Thank you very much. |
