Hello Teachers,
I'm a student in Taiwan(R.O.C) in which the educational system runs the way like what describes below:
1-6 grader: elementary school
7-9 grader: junior high school
10-12 grader: senior high school
above: college / university
Recently, one of my English teachers said to us we can use the term "middle school" and "junior high school + senior high school" interchangeably, which is a bit confusing to me. For I remember a few years ago, our city government changed the name of an MRT station from "Chong-san Middle School Station" into "Chong-san Junior High School Station"? Therefore, could we really use the two terms interchangeably under the educational system just described above? Please kindly help me with this! Thanks a million! |

I thnk you can call junior high school middle school. In the province of Canada where I live, Senior high school is usually just called High School |

In the U.S., what used to be called junior high school is more commonly called middle school these days. I don't know why the name changed. Different school systems break up the years differently:
1-5 or 1-6 elementary, 6-8 or 7-8 or 7-9 middle, 8-12 or 9-12 high school _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
