Please educate me on this;
His mother had three sons. He was the youngest.
In the attempt of connecting the two sentences,
1. His mother had three sons, of whom he was the youngest.
2. He was the youngest of three sons whom his mother had.
Is #2 strange?? If so, please tell me why.

#1 is fine.(
#2 He was the youngest of the three sons (that) (whom)his mother had.
If this were not an exercise in joining sentences, you would probably just say, "He was the youngest of three sons." |
