What is the difference between shamed and ashamed?
I was shamed vs. I was ashamed. Are they the same in meaning? |

"Shamed" (a verb) is when someone or something makes you feel ashamed.
Being/feeling ashamed is feeling guilty with no outside influence. "Ashamed" is an adjective.
My accountant shamed me into reporting my full income on my tax return. (Without her input, I would have cheated. But she made me feel ashamed.) |
