I can't understand this expression. "as if to see inside, beyond its perfect size and color".
Please tell me what it is saying. |

The thing described has a perfect size and colour.
Although it looks perfect, it may be made of chicken wire and papier mache.
So, It means the thing is being very closely analysed and not merely taken at its face value. |
