Hello, teachers!!
(1) Tom told the truth, but found he was not believed.
----->
Is the following sentence (2) the same with (1)?
(2) Tom told the truth, but not to find he was believed.
Thank you in advance. |

No. Sentence 1 means, "Tom told the truth, but he found / discovered / learned / realized that he was not believed / that people didn't believe him."
Sentence 2, if it means anything, means, "Tom told the truth, but not in order to find that people believed him." That makes no sense. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
