Hello, teachers!!

Tom offered to treat me to lunch.
----->
What does the sentence above mean?

(1) Did Tom make lunch for me?
(2) Did Tom take me to the restautant and paid the bill?
(3) The above sentence can be (1) and (2) depending on the situation.

Thank you in advance.

The person who treats is the one who pays the bill. Dutch treat is no treat at all: Everyone pays for him- or herself.

It could also mean that the person is making lunch for you as a treat, but without further context, you would expect it to mean going to a restaurant.
