Hello, teachers!!
(1) I will lend Tom the money if he needs it.
(2) I will lend Tom money if he needs it.
(3) I will lend Tom money if he needs one.
(4) I will lend Tom money if he needs the one.
I know that (1) is correct, but if you change the word "the money" into "money," which is the proper pronoun, it, one, or the one?
Thank you in advance. |

(1) I will lend Tom the money if he needs it. OK.
(2) I will lend Tom money if he needs it. OK.
(3) I will lend Tom money if he needs one. NO: money is not a count noun, but a mass noun, like sugar or honey. You could say "if he needs some."
(4) I will lend Tom money if he needs the one. NO: Same as above. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
