Hello, teachers!!
(1) Tom was admitted to hospital with a pain in his stomach.
(2) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach in a pain.
(3) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach a pain.
(4) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach painful.
Which do you accept as English?
Thank you in advance. |

(1) Tom was admitted to hospital with a pain in his stomach. good, but you can omit "a"
(2) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach in a pain. not good, but if you omit "a" it's ok
(3) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach a pain. not good
(4) Tom was admitted to hospital with his stomach painful. sounds quite odd and I don't think often said (In this sentence I would say 'hurting', not "painful". Then it would sound better)
Which do you accept as good English?
The best is, 'Tom was admitted to hospital with stomach pain.' Thank you in advance. |
