(1)He was convinced that his father was innocent.
Is "that his father was innocent' an object?
(2)We can't convince him of his mistakes.
It's difficult to convince the public that its operations are safe.
Are 'of his mistakes' and "that its operations are safe' direct objects?

| I would consider the prepositional phrase �of his mistakes� an object complement which qualifies the direct object �him� & completes the predication begun by the verb �convince�. |
