I saw the question that is asked which is correct like the above in some grammar test book. But I think that all the examples are incorrect.
Could you tell me which is correct and why?

Number 3 is correct.
3.Here are four boxes, but I can carry only two. Please bring the others.
I am carrying two of the four boxes. There are two boxes left. Both you and I know which boxes I am talking about. Therefoore I can use "the others" meaning "the other two boxes".
The other three choices are not so definite. |
