Please read the following two sentences.
1. Jimmy boasted that he would throw the ball farther than anyone else on the team.
2. Ryan has already proved his worth in the team.
Isn't it that most native speakers of English say "on the team"? I wonder whether it is proper to use "in the team," as is used in sentence #2.
Thanks for your explanation! |

To me, it doesn't sound right to use "in."
Ryan has already proved his worth on the team. Means his play has proven itself valuable; everyone can see that.
Ryan has already proved his worth to the team. Means his teammates recognize how valuable his play is. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
