Hi teachers,
Have you ever heard of "go live" or "go alive"? What do they mean respectively? if I want to say a new software is installed and starts to be used, which phrase should I choose?
Thanks in advance for any answers! |

When we watch TV news, sometimes the anchor says we now go live to xxx (name of some other reporter) whos on location to find out more... What it means is theyre broadcasting live (as it happens, not from tape or film made beforehand; used as an adjective; pronounced with the long i as in life) at the time of the broadcast as the event unfolds.
Im not familiar with the verbal phrase go alive. When you start a software just installed, you can say lets try it; lets test drive it; lets start; lets run it & etc. I dont see how you would use either of the 2 phrases you raised in this context? |

Thank you so much for your reply, buddhaheart.
I want to phrase a sentence like this, "The new system is going to go live/alive next week." |
