-In Norway fell a shower of mice.

-A shower of mice fell in Norway.

Are both grammatically ok (inversion) or is only the second one acceptable?

Please comment in detail!

Hi

Yes, I believe both are correct.

1. A book is on the desk.

=>On the desk is a book.(inversion)

2. Mary stood in the doorway.

=>In the door way stood Mary.(inversion)

3. Note that if the subject of a sentence is pronoun (e.g. it , she ,he , they ,...), you can place adverb( adverbial phrase ) at the beginning of that sentence while inverted structure is impossible in this case, for instance,

He stood there.

=>There he stood.(correct)

=>There stood he.(incorrect)

If wrong , please correct me.
