Hello, teachers!!
In an industry where mass-audience animated movies are usually little more than just longer versions of popular TV cartoons and are aimed squarely at an under-twelve audience, Miyazaki and long-time collaborator Isao Takahata stand out as serious anime authors whose Studio Ghibli hapens to make hit movies with almost metronomic regularity.

What do "popular " in "popular TV cartoons" in the sentence above?
I checked the word in the dictionary, but I can't know which this word "popular" indicates?
(1) of, pertaining to, or representing the people, esp. the common people
(2) Widely liked or appreciated
Thank you in advance. |
