Be a man as lucky as he will, he cannot be successful without taking pains.
What does the underlined part mean? And what kind of grammar structure is it??
Thanks. |

It is the subjunctive mood.
It means, no matter how lucky a man wishes he were, he still will not be successful unless he makes the effort. |
