Dear all:
When I was watching NBA games. Sometimes I listen a phrase "coast to coast". I make no sense about this. So plz tell me more about this. thx a lot.

It means taking the ball from one end of the court to the other, usually resulting in a basket. Can also be used if one player takes the rebound and throws it to a teammate at the other basket.

The U.S. mainland is a roughly oblong country bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Atlantic Ocean on the east. When we go coast to coast, we go from one end of the country to the other--say, from New York to Los Angeles, or from Atlanta to Seattle. The basketball announcers and others have adopted the expression to mean going from one end of the court to the other.

You can say the same thing in other field sports like soccer or water polo.
