The expression cats and dogs reminds me of the word downpour
Can I use this word as a verb? like a "It is downpouring right now" |

| Downpour is not a verb as far as I know so you can't use it like one. |

But you can say that it is pouring rain, or pouring down, or just pouring, to mean that it is raining very hard.
