Hi, everyone!

I happened to see a sentence "The girl was wise". But for me this sounds a bit odd because when I think of someone wise, I always think of someone old, with lots of real-life experience. Can a girl be wise? Or can "wise" and "smart" sometimes be used interchangeablly?

Wise and smart are a bit different because wisdom comes from experience. That is why wisdom is usually associated with older people: because they have more experience.

But, anyone can be wise. We even have a little expression:

"She was wise beyond her years."

Yes, girls can be wise.
