Hello, teachers.
Will you help me understand the following passage?
(Looking at Doan drinking, a young woman says)
"Well, I've never had much experience with intoxicants. I've never seen anyone just sit down and--and get drunk."
"Stick around, kid," Doan told her. "Stick around."
I understand that "stick around" means "to wait for something", but I don't understand why Doan uses this phrase here. What does he mean by this? |

"Stick around" in this case means Doan is going to sit down and get drunk right now. That is the action that you can expect to happen.
Hope that helps! |
